FLAVORx Program

 Food is Medicine Program

Since 2016, Sustainable CAPE has created innovative Food is Medicine programs in which doctors refer patients at risk of chronic disease on Cape Cod. Upon enrollment, participants receive medically-tailored bags of fruits, vegetables and lean protein delivered throughout their enrollment period. We provide nutrition education and support to encourage simple, delicious, and healthful meals. Patient feedback and data document & measure how increased access to fruits and vegetables positively impacts health. CSA+

Do you receive SNAP benefits? As an active SNAP recipient, you are eligible to receive our no-cost monthly bag full of local fruits & veggies delivered directly to your home!

This program utilizes your additional monthly HIP allotment and does not impact your SNAP balance. To be eligible, participants must have an active Massachusetts SNAP card that has received benefits in the last 60 days and live in Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet or Eastham. Read More…

SNAP / HIP

SNAP card holders can use their benefits at our farmers’ markets, as well as receive an immediate refund of $40-80/month on local fruits & vegetables through HIP. Combine HIP with our Bonus Match & earn up to $80-120/month in produce at no cost by helping support local farmers who are paid in full!

WIC / Senior Coupons

WIC and Senior Discount Coupons can be redeemed at our farmers’ markets. Combine your coupons with our Bonus Match & earn up to $40/month in produce at no cost by helping support local farmers who are paid in full!

Bonus Match Program

SNAP card holders, and / or recipients of SUN Bucks, WIC or Senior Coupons, receive a matching bonus of up to $10 weekly in farmers’ market tokens at the market Info Table. 

Project Gratitude

Veterans receive $10 in tokens weekly as thanks for their service. Veterans buy from local farmers, helping to grow a stronger, more resilient local food economy. 

Fresh Kids’ Awards

Students in Sustainable CAPE’s Farmer-in-the-School programs receive $10 worth of redeemable awards for tokens to purchase fresh fruits & vegetables at farmers’ markets.

Harvest Highlight Program

Sustainable CAPE supports Cape Cod farms by purchasing produce in bulk from different growers and featuring their produce and business in our Harvest Highlight cooking workshops, newsletters, and local food donations to community kitchens. Farmers Market Coalition

Farmers’ Market Coalition

The Sustainable CAPE Farmers’ Market Coalition links Cape Cod Farmers Markets, sharing best practices and expertise as well as offering educational materials.  We support markets in offer food access programs so all socioeconomic groups benefit from increased access to local food. We make these programs easier for market managers, vendors and customers alike. The coalition also jointly promotes Cape Cod farmers’ markets offering Fruit & Vegetable Bonus Programs. Read More…
