Sustainable CAPE increases the affordability of local foods through our Bonus Match Program for SNAP, WIC and Senior Discount Coupons, the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), Project Gratitude for veterans, and Fresh Kids’ Awards for local schoolchildren. Our Farmers’ Market Coalition assists farmers’ markets across the Cape & Islands in implementing, operating, and funding these food access programs. Read more…

The Sustainable CAPE Farmers’ Market Coalition links Cape Cod Farmers Markets, sharing best practices and expertise as well as offering educational materials. We support markets in getting nutrition incentive programs up and running so all socioeconomic groups benefit from increased access to local food. We make these programs easier for market managers, vendors and customers alike. The coalition also jointly promotes Cape Cod markets offering Fruit & Vegetable Incentive Programs. Read More…
Truro Agricultural Fair
Sunday of Labor Day Weekend
Celebrating agriculture, aquaculture, fishing and farming, the Truro Agricultural Fair offers a delicious variety of locally harvested foods from land and sea. The fair encourages a deeper appreciation of the traditional harvesting industries taking place on Cape Cod today. Farmer-in-the-School Program
Sustainable CAPE works with all seven elementary school from Brewster through Provincetown, teaching over 1,000 children about the benefits of growing and eating local food. We have developed an innovative model: we hire a farmer/educator to work with students to link school gardens to the classroom curriculum, the school nurse’s health & wellness curriculum, and the school lunch/snack program. Truro Children’s Community Garden
Sustainable CAPE’s Children’s Community Garden grows year-round organic produce with participating K-6 elementary school children. Children plant, cultivate, eat (and enjoy!) local fruits and vegetables – resulting in improved health and a formative early connection to agriculture. The young gardeners also deliver excess produce to their local school for the School Lunch Program. Read More…
